I can agree with that.
We were just talking about this the other day on another board and it mostly has to do with how the media presents members of the opposite sex overt and over again which forces a state of "societal acceptance".
All women have to be a size 1 with DD tits and a nice ass.
All men have to be cut like an AF model and wear "X" brand and make fat money.
The stress this puts on people to be happy with where they are and who they are is outrageous because you are always trying to measure up to a mark that can't be met.

Then the Halo Effect contributes. It's where we allow people who are an authority in one area, to endorse products they know absolutely nothing about. Like allowing a Soap Opera actress promote medicine, etc.
