Taxation on pot is already very high in the black market, no one would notice if the business became legitimized and over taxed because of the mark-ups, in fact due to the loss of fear production rates would probably increase exponentially, adding even another money making factor.
I mean if gasoline was illegal, and it cost $20 a gallon, who would complain about it being legalized and taxed up to $10?
and a big problem is history. America has spent the better part of the last century hating on cannabis, spending billions of dollars against it, wasting man hours on laws and a lot of effort into the war on drugs. Then there is thousands of people in the prison system right now who will cry that their crimes are no longer illegal at parole hearings... some, though few, of which actually are dangerous criminals that just got put away on pot charges.
