i got a tv that blew out one weekend when i wasnt home from what i can only assume was lightning since it took a pc and my roomies tv too ... i can plug it in and the led power light on front just blinks on and off but it wont turn on. is that prolly a bad resistor as well?
i'd love to fix it, i hate it just sittin broke in my closet and i am a fine hand at soldering
probably not a resistor, but capacitor. however, with lightning it can be many other things beyond the power supply. voltage spikes can kill ICs very very easily. but the first step would be to take a look at the power supply and the capacitors on the power supply. check for any that are ruptured (signs of fluid leakage) and also check the solder points for anything that looks odd (as in less solder than other points, not making solid contact). Those are usually signs that there is a problem.
I recently fixed a printer at work that had a power supply problem. two of the solder joints on the main circuit board for the power supply evaporated enough so it wasn't making good enough of a connection. added a tiny bit of solder and it powered up fine.
