I was a Marine for 4 years and got out in 05. Did 3 tours in Iraq/Kuwait.

Delayed entry program is a joke and there is no real serious training other than a little drill here and there and maybe they will show you how to disassemble an M16. At least that is how it was for me, it may be different in some places.

I joined because I wanted to prove to everyone that I could actually be someone because I got pushed around a lot in school. When I came home after my first deployment, people treated me like an entirely different person and people that would never even have given me the time of day before were trying to get in good with me. It was a good high for a while. But you do deal with A LOT of bullshit in the corps. If you decide to join, there will be times you will say to yourself "What the fuck did I sign up for?" But you will experience things that you will never forget and it will make you a stronger person for the experience.
