at my branch its anything in excess of 2k double verify but it doesnt have to be somebody in a supervisory role... any other teller can verify the cash transaction....
that goes for cash coming in, too... it just safeguards the teller receiving/passing the money from a customer making any accusations... and also from the teller making a counting error that will go un-noticed until the end of the day.
edit: we also have our staff members log any w/d in excess of 3k (cash or check) but that is not an organization procedure, that is just so that we can make sure nothing too excessive is going on.... in reality we dont worry too much about anything < 10k and the only time we try to talk the customer out of the w/d is if they are only taking the money to deposit it in another institution... if there is anything we can do to talk them out of taking the money, we will...
