here is mine. when i worked for adaptec one of my job was to teach/train new people. one of my demonstration was to use an old scsi drive that had the outer casing removed so you can see the platter and see the heads moving.
I would take that hook it up to one of the pc and boot windows NT off of it.
It would go 3-4months in between use and had no problems at all.
that was on a hdd about 5years old at the time.
