if its regular yellow/white masking tape, your clearcoat/paint is going to thank you by leaving the metal bare.

at the very least, when you remove that stuff, pull 180 degrees from the surface and pull slowly, and with the least amount of effort necessary. the best way to pull the paint off is if you pull 90 degrees from the surface in one long hard ass pull off the car.
