i thought it was a great Olympic. I think everything went great and that Chinese government tried very hard to impress the world. I think it worked.
Politicaly i think it's up to the habitants to see whats next. Will they somewhat "uprise" and question why it's possible to make these changes when the Olympics are on but not try to make them permanent? They gave more fexibility to foreign and local press why can't they continue on that path? Retriction on traffic and air pollutant, transparency, ect... can they keep it up? (i personally think some change will come from the Olympics but not enough)
As for the future Olympics, i think it will be really hard to beat. but some reporters have said that even if these were the most impressing Olympics yet it wasn't the most emotional. I don't think these Olympics will be surpassed any time soon. The spent like $40B (something like that didn't double checked it) on these Olympics, i doubt that any other country will be crazy enough to spend that much. I also believe that no other country NEED to "impress the world" as much as China. That why these Olympics will stay as the most impressive ones for many years to come.
And i watched it every chance i would get. I love watching the Olympics, the best athletes competing for their countries. The gymnastic events are very impressive so was the track and field events. I hated that they showed so much volleyball... i don't think we need to see every match. I think they should get rid of baseball and softball. Hate Phelps but love the story and to think he is planning on coming back in 4 years. I loved the China va USA coverage and i am disappointed at the Canadian results.
