Read the FAQ to understand how the model changes apply to the ITR.
Most of the changes were aesthetic, but some items — like air conditioning for example — weren't standard equipment until 1999.

Generally speaking, find a car with low miles and complete documentation for all service items.

The single biggest maintenance item is the timing belt. If it snaps, pistons and valves will collide with wallet-flattening consequences.

The standard service interval is 90K miles or every 6 years.. so all ITR's are due by now. If you don't have written proof that the timing belt, tensioner and water pump have been replaced yet, take care of it immediately.

Things like color are issues of taste... pick what you like best.
I'd lean toward Flamenco Black rather than yellow or championship white.

Oh... and one other thing: the ITR is still a very popular target for theft.
Don't cheap out on security or insurance.
