but honestly I would go for a 300mm that isn't f2.8 unless you really really need it. most sporting events that I goto are outdoors and you simply do not need f2.8. what you do need is reach. which is one of the main reasons why i got the 80-400vr instead of 70-200 vr f2.8. the cost difference was only a few hundred. as for the size... you know what they say... bigger the lens the longer the reach the lighter the wallet :hs:
