In states where tint has legal limits its more for officers then for saftey reasons, lighter tint allows officers to make out drivers of vehicles easier, so by having to dark of tint it could be conceived that you have something to hide, hince the point violation, not saying i agree just saying thats the basis
I understand why it would be a violation, but tacking points on your record for that reason doesn't make sense though
