I admit I'm a cynical bastard when it comes to this shit.
But OTOH, the driver who hit me tried to burn me for nearly $3500 in repairs after I extended every courtesy to contact him.
That experience was enough to:
a) convince me that uninsured motorist coverage is mandatory.
b) never underestimate the depths people will sink to get out of paying up.
but tony didnt even make an effort to try and contact the guy once to see what he would say. regardless of past experiences everyone should be given at least one chance to explain, then based on previous experience if he seems shady you can make the call. but at least let him have an opportunity to try
