mine is always set to ring/vibrate mode & in my pocket....unless i'm at a movie or somewhere i don't want it heard & then i switch it vibrate only....so unless i'm somewhere i get no reception, then i check it when it goes off

i too text primarily & only call when it's something involved that would take too long to type in a text
