Well, I finally got it loose. It was more or less welded/melted together. My guess is that the "female" side of the plug is a nonremoveable part of the blower motor. So, I will have to try to clean that side up and make it work or have to replace the blower motor @ $150.

The "male'" side of the plug is toast and will have to be replaced as you suggested.

You are also correct about the design flaw with short wires that have turn 90 degrees out of the plug and (bonus) are exposed to occasional harrassment from passenger feet.
