Geez guys, calm down. Why all the hate? Listen, I've been trying turning off the car when I'm at a long light or when coasting down a hill for any longer than a few minutes. I have some pretty long hills on the way to/from work. I usually end up shutting it off 3 or 4 times during a 25 mile trip to work. I've been a little concerned about the possible wear and tear on the starter or engine but I realize I've got 3 taps on the breaks if need be and there are never any turns on the downhill straights. It's more of an experiment if anything, problem is it's working pretty damn well. I've never gotten 37mpg in an accord. Hell, I don't know too many who get that in their civic. So yeah, I might lay off the shutting down on the hills, I realize I loose PS and all. But don't be all dramatic with the safety thing, it probably isn't the best habit but unsafe is an overstatement.
