Well, having a modified car period lowers the car's resale value, all-motor or turbocharged. Especially if you've swapped out the engine for a different one. And while you can take off the turbo, return the car to stock, and sell both seperately you can't reverse an engine swap. One the factory motor has been swapped out it's been swapped out, and you'd have to advertise the car as a GS w/gsr motor swap. Not a good way to attract buyers looking for a clean car IMO.

With all-motor you're going to be running well north of 6000 rpm, and depending on the cams you may even see 9000+ rpm. Either way, all-motor or turbocharged, the engine will be taking a beating. Going all-motor requires the same level of attention as going turbo. If he does it right, reliability can generally be achieved either way.

I basically don't see why he should swap out a perfectly competent engine. Spend $3-5 grand on a turbo kit and he'll be much faster than if he decided to swap in a gsr engine for the equivalent cost.
