one thing that we still need to keep in mind is that in the US, the production of electricity is still the #1 consumer of petroleum oil. If we don't look for alternate ways to produce electricity (nuclear, windpower, tidal power, hydro) nothing will matter....
we all try so hard to save mpg in the cars but i dont think enough people are recognizing the need to change our habits in the house...
and with all of that said, if drilling offshore will give us any relief at the pump, however temporary it is, i say go for it.
