I have been really conscious about using my A/C as well. I gotta use it on the highway when it is really hot out but I will cut it off while going up hills and will shut it off if I come to a complete stop. I also don't use my A/C unless I am going over 50 mph because that is when the drag starts to really affect the momentum of the car and it is not worth it to have the window down.
My mileage has gone up around 18% so the $135 gbp I paid has been recouped already. I believe TDIclub is starting a Groupbuy in their fuel economy section.

$4.699*16=$75.18 @ 42mpg=672 miles
$4.699*13.17=$61.88 @ 51mpg=672miles

Save $13.30 per fill-up using SGII approx 10 tanks would recoup my SGII. 6720 miles, which is about 2 months of driving for me or 8 weeks. Now it will take longer for most, but in my case it has paid itself off quickly. I would like to buy the newer version as it's more programmable than mine.

My best Highway run start to finish came in at 71.1mpg engine on the whole time, I believe it was a 65 mile hwy trip. Normally I see about 52-60mpg hwy on a 35 mile hwy commute. Around town it's anywhere from 38-55mpg depending on the traffic situation.
