I didn't have to take anything off when I replaced mine. I unplugged the connector first to get the wiring out of the way so I could see the bolts better, then I just used a 1/4" drive socket wrench to take to bolts off.

I've seen pictures of a 94 where the whole assembly can be seen PLAINLY from the top of the engine, not so with my model.
