Go drive both. After owning a Type R for a year, I was very disappointed with the performance of the Type S. I wasn't looking for cushy seats and crap. I wanted a car that would perform for the price. The Type R is a little faster in a straight line, but much quicker through the turns. I didn't get to drive the WRX, but I do think it's a good car. They are ugly and 4-doors. I also wanted something that handled better than I'd read they did. I'm moving on from sport compacts. No interest in the WRX or RSX.
