29 palms california aka 29 stumps aka the middle of the mojave desert :a:

a little background...the week before i graduated from the school of infantry everyone was told where they would be stationed and with which unit. i was told i'd be staying at camp pendleton with 1st LAR. good shit i thought. the friday before graduation everyone got their official orders. i go over mine and on the last line it says "for permanent duty assignment to 3rd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 29 Palms, CA."

FUCK.

we graduated tuesday at noon and 30 minutes later were on a bus headed to the desert. dont get me wrong, this is the largest Marine Corps base in the world covering over 930 square miles and offers some of the best training for desert and urban warfare. but we're out in the middle nowhere with nothing to do. i forsee many drunken nights ahead. :hsd:
