I don't understand why people think time away from work is a bad thing. Do you really think your bosses look down on you or think less of you for taking a week off once every few months? If you want to be completely defined by your job, then congrats. You've got nothing else going for you.
I take my time off as much as I can because my project due dates are never set in stone...
