sure some of the population is very anti-US but also some of that population is the population that thrived under Saddam.
and then those like Sadr and the Medhi army ... well he cant have his way until the US leaves then he can bully the Iraqi's into doing things his way. radical clerics are who are stirring up the hate there.

the population that thrived under Saddam is a very tricky conversation. All the doctors, and teachers had to join the party to get their jobs. when america went in, someone said all aprty members cant work, round them up. so all of a sudden there were no teachers or doctors and the kids were out in the street getting gobbled up by the extremists.
