just a thought, if you have a CAI as well. wouldnt this cause some effects if more heat was now created under your hood? the whole pupose of the CAI is to pull in cold air, well if this causes that much of an effect then the CAI would now be neutralized. your (minimal but still noticable) horsepower would be gone because you would be pulling in mixed air just like if you had a stock filter box still on there. well maybe not as much so to that effect but i think it would do something dont you?
i like the idea of painting/polishing it. and i think fastball was just trying to point out that you shouldnt go be an idiot and try to do it right after you drove your car. more like after your done driving your car, you wake up and its been sitting out and its cold all night. just my $.02
I don't think if you have a CAI you'd be pulling in mixed air(hot and cold) cause the filter isn't in the engine compartment so I don't see how that would be possible. I don't think the engine bay will be any hotter w/o the heat shield cause it doesn't cool down the headers at all, they still get as hot would w/o it on, and the shield doesn't seal the headers or the heat they produce from the rest of the engine compartment so I think it'll be the same temp in there myself.
Im not an idiot, I know not to play w/the headers/heat shield after driving the car, I can't imagine anybody being that dense and doing that.
