I may well have to check out the Clubman S even though I think it's still a bit smaller than I want for my OTM (Other Than Miata).
But, I'm not in a huge rush to buy an OTM. All the work on the Miata I have planned for this spring/summer will all actually make the car more daily driveable. I've done my needed maintenance (60k, timing belt, water pump). Next I'm going to replace the top and add a headliner, add Bilstein PSS9 coilovers + thicker front sway/remove stock rear sway (this will ride smoother than stock), stick on a
Flyin' Miata butterfly brace, and maybe do a bit of a stereo upgrade including adding some sound dampening.
Next spring/summer is when I'll get to the real stupid stuff like a turbo. The '09 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart with the detuned 235 hp version of the Evo motor and the DSG standard for $25k should be out by then. I'll have to compare it with the GTI DSG at that time.
