I only use MF towels when drying, cleaning or waxing my car. Yes, MF towels are less likely to produce swirl marks when drying or waxing your car. A good test would be to get a CD you dont care about, a rub the towels you currently use on the face of the CD. Most terry cloths are abrasive and will leave swirls on the CD. MF towels are great for the interior and your window. For both applications all you need is water and a MF towel.
