sure a good idea, but given enough time it will be circumvented. i see it's usefulness, but i also see how its going to make the industry costs skyrocket and in due time criminals will have a way around it.

in the end it still doesnt do any good because, say you want to sell a gun. somehow you have to be able to wipe the scanner and reprogram / add id's. wont take criminals long and they will either have the software themselves or develop their own version to wipe guns memories.

neat idea but one that ultimately is just another waste of money
