Oh god, when I first played, I couldn't get the timing down. Supposedly your hammer turns red when it's a dead on shot ... but, that never works for me either.
With the hammer, you don't have to make direct contact with your opponent. If you can slam the head down infront of him ... tap his toes, he's dead.
The red thing only works with shields, in grifball just hope you're close enough and faster than the other guy. :hs:
