Default engine questions- 1990 acura integra

Hello!

I have a 1990 integra GS, and I was looking at dropping in a new powerplant (with more power than the original). I know the original engine is around 1850ccs, so would it be possible to stuff in a 2000cc engine? I know that this is obviously not the only issue here, but I was just curious. Also, just to ask, does anyone know what the most powerful engine that I could drop into my 1990 would be? I have found some decently priced engines from IT-Rs at a JDM import store, and some others at autowreckers, etc., so don't go telling me that it's a waste of money. The car is in pristine condition as is, so I am looking to have some fun.

Also, there is a funny noise that keeps recurring- over in the right hand side of the car (behind glove box), I occasionally hear this kind of electronic squeaking sound (beep beepbeepbeep beepbeep beep beep- just like that, but faint). The car is in great working condition (as well as body shape) and I cannot find anyone who can tell me what this sound is. I was thinking a mebbe a messed up sensor? But I definitely cannot make it reproduce on demand- it is really pretty random. If anyone else has heard this noise, would you know what it is? I am completely baffled.
