I wouldn't worry about holding anyone down. My only suggestion is to follow someone around and grab a battle riffle. It'll be a rare occasion that you're both killed without a fight. That's what I'd do when I'd play with Jae and Vinnie.
That is what I try to do, but it seems that even if I am behind the person, take Jesse for instance, I will die way before he does, and I am no where near where the fire looks like it is coming from, and there is no one else around me.
