I'll give you that, but thats because out mouths dry out when we sleep. At any other time of day your saliva is going to wash most of it away pretty quickly and before it does any major damage. Still then it'll most likely have more to do with the sugars promoting plaque buildup.

The majority of tooth decay comes from plaque and the acids they secrete which are in turn trapped against the teeth.
