Water hitting the filter is not a big deal. It is when it snorkels and the filter becomes immersed, that is when it sucks up enough water to actually drown out the motor. I have a CAI on my GSR. No bypass valve. I've driven in the rain and have had no issues. Maybe the rain situation is worse in Canada than CA, so cut the piping and make a short ram for the winter, buy a coupler and make it a CAI in the summer.
