They managed to sell 5.5 million consoles based on garbage titles and an obnoxious price point.

Numerous factors will drive PS3 sales:
1. Game selection. The heavy hitters, the franchise titles are due in 2008. (Gran Turismo HD, Final Fantasy, Metal Gear, Unreal III)

2. Blu-Ray functionality. (durrr)

3. Overall hardware features making sense to the public. This launched in 06 with a bunch of functionality the consumer claimed they didn't need.
- WiFi
- Hard drive
- Blu-Ray
- DVD upconverting
- HDMI
- 1080p output

Now these words are everywhere. Now people are buying electronics solely on these features. "How many HDMI inputs does that LCD have?" ... "I need a DVD player that upconverts. I want my old movies to look good on my 1080p TV"


The PS3 will put asses in seats, but it's a long time coming.
