Online Connectivity
Things that finally were addressed in the last 3-4 months:
Interactive Features (Java/HDi)
Secondary decoders for Video/Audio
among other things

All of that has been mandatory for all HD-DVD players from the start. For a snapshot of this just look at the release of 300 on Blu-ray and HD-DVD, the features on the HD-DVD version were years ahead of those on the Blu-Ray version.

Beyond this just imagine what big Sony is going to do to the prices once HD-DVD is out of the picture [Dual format players are still going to be 1000+ dollars so for now I'd forget about that]

and In any case it's been proven that Sony doesn't care about selling anything but a product. Anything to keep it's investors happy is the only way to go when it comes to Sony, it's been that way for years.
