Your fuel economy goes to hell, you don't burn all the fuel, you get excess carbon deposites both in your engine and in your cat, exaust etc.
its like drinkin coke instead of gatorade when running a marathon.
Coke may taste better, but your body doesn't use it as well as the gatorade.
Actually, premium has more resistance (or less tendency) to premature combustion (which I am pretty sure is what you meant).
