Same goes with GH 3. With the HDMI, I'd have to play to the music and hit the keys a split second early. Without the HDMI, the visuals and audio lined up again.
The sound/gameplay was perfectly fine on my tv. A buddy of mine was over my house and we played Halo Co-op with no problem. Just the picture didn't look as clean.
