Yes, this problem was fixed with the new model launch of the '05 model ODY. The older 5AT (ODY, TL, CL, PILOT, MDX, ACCORD) transmissions all bore the chronic problems of 2nd gear & 3rd clutch failures (design issues).

The '05 model ODY was a fix for those problems, but the housing was still not suitable for the torque and curb weight. The "holy grail" of automatic transmissions is the permanent countermeasure ('07 ODY). All Honda & Acura transmissions are almost completed with the transition to this new NP0-4Axis transmission and have been proven extremely durable since being initiated into the '03 model Saturn Vue.
