When I was in the dating mode it was whoever I was with that night was my girlfriend...I had few relationships that lasted longer than a month, that is until I met my wife, now going on 29 years. But I never recall ever asking anyone if they wanted to be my girlfriend or go steady, it just kind of evolved and then went away.
