It does sound like synchros but with mileage that low, that is unbelievable considering I have no grinds on a 163k mile tranny.

A lot of people have had luck with GM Synchromesh Friction Modified transmission fluid, so that may help bandaid the problem for a while. Ultimately, the transmission is going to have to be cracked open and repaired.
