yeah iv'e been thinking about the fast line and im not sure which side is better. like you said being close to the line you will be more visible in mirrors and you'll be going through the smallest section of the blind spot. however, if they do move over right as you are passing them you will have less time to react.
thats when watching the tires of the cars to your right pays off. for me, it is worth the trade-off in having the person behind me having an unobstructed view of the cars possibly stopping in front of me & not parking his car up in my asshole
