i just keep a real good distance back (3-4 sec) from cars so i can spend more time looking around at other cars and the road in general.

yeah iv'e been thinking about the fast line and im not sure which side is better. like you said being close to the line you will be more visible in mirrors and you'll be going through the smallest section of the blind spot. however, if they do move over right as you are passing them you will have less time to react.
