Thats not really the best advice. In emergency stopping using both brakes will stop you faster, and so it is good to be in the habit of using both. While it isn't great if you lock up the rear, unlike the front you'll stay upright and can still steer somewhat. I also like using the rear brake as I come to stop because the bike won't dive so it make it a lot smoother.
not trying to start an arguement I just don't Labrinth getting bad advice right off the bat. same as the old timers who say to avoid the front brake at all costs. They make two brakes for a reason, use them both.
congrats on the bike though! be safe.
safest way to brake= engine breaking. its a wet clutch it wont burn out ride it a lot.
