My guess is that it was some kind of rain water catch pan that filtered into a well, but some hicks got drunk on some moonshine one night and thought about how cool it would be to build a barn out of it. Next day when Jarl and Eli came out of the house, they saw Jojo and Billy Bob's awesome creation.
