Go in and exchange your nasty old one for a nice new one! and there's no real difference b/w the USDM and JDM tranny's that i'm aware of...unless you want a cute little JDM plaque on her housing.
There could be a difference between JDM and USDM trannies such as different gear ratios or LSD depending on which ones we are talking about.
I would try and see if you could pick up a housing from someone here, on honda-tech, or on ebay. Since the gearset isn't affected, it would just be a matter of swapping the gearset out of the busted case and into the new one.
