The SHO's V8 isn't all Ford design.

In 1996 the Ford Taurus was redesign and a new SHO was released. This time with a V8. The motor was built and designed by Ford and Yamaha. Ford wanted a V8 into the Taurus to bring the Taurus to a new level. Ford cast the block with the "Cosworth Process". It was based on the Duratec 2.5 litre V6 with two additional cylinders in the middle. After the short block was complete, it was sent over to Yamaha. From there, Yamaha created the heads and completed the motor for Ford.
