96 accord ignition switch assembly replacement
I recently was taking my fiance out to dinner when i put the key in then ignition of my car and when i attempted to turn the key it would not budge. almost as if it was not the right key at all. well i tried all the tried and true methods of turning the wheel and making sure it was not locked in any way however all this was to no avail. so i talked to so mechanic buddies and they suggested that the tumblers in the assembly bound up some how and the easy fix is to replace the whole assembly. ok, well i can handle this right? well go to the local acura/honda dealer ship and get the part and went straight home. well after taking off the plastic steering column outer pieces i noticed that the ingnition assembly is bolted in with a horseshoe type piece of metal that goes around the steering column and bolts into the assembly. well the new assembly uses these type of hex nuts to bolt in and anchor the assembly, but the original assembly, uses like a bolt with no accessable nut or anytype of like flat head or philips head design to take it out? hum.... so its like a big pop rivet, has anyone had this problem or knows any special techniques to take out these bolts? maybe i'm nuking it but damn. the only thing i can think of is drilling it out. please help
