The common thing for alimony is that the woman typically gets funds that are able to support her previous lifestyle before the divorce. IE, live in a mansion, not work, have butlers/servants/poolboys/gardeners/etc, and get a lot of spending money.
That's why if I get rich and don't have a prenup, I'm going to make my wife sleep in a dog house out on the back lawn
