You will get the most benefit from cam gears by dialing them in on a dyno.
Have you upgraded your cams as well?
For now, the safest approach is to set both cams to 0°.
Too much advance or retard and you run the risk of piston-to-valve collision.
All other things equal, adjusting the timing of the intake and exhaust cams affects where power is made in the powerband. More valve overlap favors high end output over low-end power.
The key is to find the correct balance.
