If the Glock also shot .45, then it was probably the 21. If I remember correctly, the use of double-stack .45 mags makes the G21's handgrip bigger than most other Glocks -- too big for my moderately-large mitts, whereas the slightly smaller G22 fits perfect.

Conversely, the standard 1911 grip is too narrow for me since it uses only a single-stack magazine, and I can't shoot for shit with it. Thicker after-market grips help, but the angle of the grip is weird for me and I still shoot only mediocre, and any sort of fast-draw point shooting I can't hit the broad side of a barn with it. Damn shame, since it's such a classic gun, and I really like 'em.

Edit - what brand was the 1911?
