It is so simple if you just play around with it.

You can crop it into the four parts if you want.

Slice into four parts.

Square select it into it's four parts creating new layers for each part.

What is the point of this question? I mean really there are a thousand ways to do the same process in PS and none is wrong...some are more convenient than others but none are wrong at all.
